Hey Guys, it’s Geek Week on YouTube which means a slew of new parody videos, top 10 lists and even choose your adventure videos will be posted everyday. To make it more interesting there will be Easter Eggs, like earning badges for watching videos or searching “/ geekweek”, for an extra interactive element which are supposed to be changing daily. Today and the rest of the week, make sure to stop by Literary Lots in Novak Park in Ohio City (near the intersection of Fulton and Bridge). Literary Lots brings engaging programming to neighborhood kids through creative land re-use, artist engagement, youth education, and urban renewal to be enjoyed by all. Fitting for the neighborhood location, Literary Lots will be food themed. Events include food (obviously), movies, poetry, book readings, song writing, and yoga. Check this out for a full schedule and registration.
If you’re not yet watching Cartoon Hangover, you have some catching up to do on some pretty great cartoons. If you fall into the category of people that have been creatively throwing “You took too long, now your ___ is gone” into conversation, bakow! All new Bee and PuppyCat will up be Wednesday.
Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, the cinematic retelling of Rick Riordans fantasy adventure novel, will be in theaters Wednesday. Percy Jackson, accompanied by his friends and half brother, goes on a journey to the Sea of Monsters to retrieve the Golden Fleece and save Camp Half-Blood.
For those of you unfamiliar with POP! The Comic Culture Club, we recommend checking them out. It’s a Cleveland group open to everyone who is interested in a friendly discussion of comics, movies, TV shows, and other related culture. They will be meeting Thursday at the Akron Public Library to discuss EC Comics.
In theaters Friday, Elysium stars Matt Damon and Jodie Foster living in the year 2154, in which the wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth. Damon plays Max, a man taking on the mission of bringing equality to these worlds.
The Sunday show for the Cinema at the Square series will be Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
PNC Fairfax Connection is having Space Camp this Monday for kids aged 6 and up. Kids will learn about the solar system, planets, and life in outer space by making crafts, watching real space landing videos, and playing games.
Science Cafe Cleveland, which has become so popular they are suggesting coming early to grab a seat, is going to cover the health of gorillas. Dr. Kristen Lukas, Curator of Conservation and Science for the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, along with Dr. Pam Dennis, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and The Ohio State University, and Dr. Elena Less, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Case Western Reserve University, will guide you through the world of gorilla health and behavior research that improves the health and welfare of gorillas living in zoos across the country.
