It’s that time of year again. You know the one where you feel obligated to buy stuff for others lest you be considered a horrible person by societal standards. Even if you don’t care what society thinks, you still feel obligated to buy because who could pass up such good deals? Cleveland Comics (Formerly North Coast Nostaligia East) is having their Annual Holiday Sale. Black Friday and Small Business Saturday deals abound! Almost everything in the store is 15% – 60% off. Ask around the shop and you maybe surprised by a good deal. Deals will continue throughout the Holiday Season.
Carol & John’s Comics is having their 18th annual Black Friday sale. They make it easy for you by having their sale from 7pm to midnight so you don’t have to rush or camp out. The sale features 50% off all Back Issues, 20% off the New Comic Wall, 20% off Statues, Actions Figures and T-shirts, 75% off Discount Graphic Novel bins, and 10% off EVERYTHING else in the shop! Not only will there be good deals but raffles too! Where you could potentially win, hardcover graphic novels, Marvel comics omnibuses, random prizes, and a $100 gift certificate! If all of that hasn’t enticed you there will also be pizza and snacks! They will also be having a Christmas party on Dec 21st.
Our friends at Gaming Grounds over in Kent are not only having a Black Friday sale but a Small Business Saturday sale as well. They haven’t announced the deals for Black Friday just yet but keep an eye on the Facebook event page for what I’m sure will be some excellent prices. If you miss Friday because you were so overwhelmed with amazing deals that you couldn’t make it. Or maybe you didn’t find what you were looking for, or you just like spending money. You’re in luck because the deals flow through to Small Business Saturday and if you’re an American Express card holder, they are a qualifying small business. So, register your card and you will get a $10 statement credit when you make a purchase of $10 or more at Gaming Grounds on Nov 30.

If you’re looking for unique gifts and cool crafts, then put your shopping pants on because here comes Made In The 216 Holiday Shoppe. Featuring locally made apparel, home goods, cards, jewelry and stuff for the kids, The shop is located within Room Service in Ohio City. Made in the 216 runs from Nov 29th through Dec 24 with a kickoff party Friday, Nov 29th at 4pm with DJ Peter Pleasurecruise and beer made specially for the event.
The Cleveland Bazaar (formerly Bazaar Bizarre Cleveland) is Cleveland’s long running indie craft show. This year there will be three shows to accommodate all of you holiday shopping needs . Friday, Nov 29 and Saturday Nov 30 Shop local for black friday and small business saturday over in Larchmere in Shaker Heights as part of the Larchmere Holiday Stroll. Saturday Dec 7 the bazaar will be part of the Ohio City Holiday festival. On Dec 14 and 15 you can find the Bazaar inside of 78th Street studios
Collective Upcycle is a pop-up boutique of art, handmade gifts & goods by Cleveland artists. Including 3x Hearts by Lisa Malanij. To quote Angela “She repurposes nerdy clothing into FAAABulous designer nerd things” Here you’ll find all types of creatively reused and repurposed items. Located at 6202 St. Clair Ave. the pop-up is open Thursdays – Sundays through April
Cleveland’s Winterfest, will be held in Public Square on Nov. 30th, it will include a pop-up shop featuring locally made gifts including those curated by Cleveland Handmade.
Cleveland Handmade will have additional markets December 7, at Tower Press, 1900 Superior and December 21, as part of Last Minute Market.
Running concurrently with Winterfest will be Cleveland Gift Box over at the 5th St. arcades which will also include many local vendors.
If you missed The Cleveland Flea’s holiday shop this past weekend you can still have a chance to get something cool at their usual second saturday on Dec. 14th.
If you like Cleveland and comics you should check out Genghis Con Small Press Underground Comic Convention this Sunday Dec 1 at the Beachland Ballroom. To pick up some small press comics and art. Exhibitors include Derf, Gary Dumm, Jake Kelly, John Greiner, Jim Rugg, Jasen Lex, Frank Santoro and maybe even a certain Cleveland based organization whose website you happen to be reading at this very moment.
