Comic books are often associated with super heroes. But many writers, including Clevelander Harvey Pekar, have used the format for stories that have nothing to do with capes and criminal masterminds. In this workshop, learn how any story can be told in this visual medium.
Week one: Writing a very short story (which can be about a superhero) and sharing it with the group for feedback. Week two: Storyboarding (planning out our pages). Weeks three and four: Drawing the panels and covers for the short comic books.
Ohio City Writers will provide paper, colored pencils and some markers; students are welcome to bring other supplies. This workshop is led by artists and writers Davey Connor and Jerry Vandal.
